Trump and Netanyahu Push for Next Phase in Gaza Ceasefire But Differences Linger

Yesterday’s meeting at Mar-a-Lago between Trump and Netanyahu lasted several hours, with both coming out sounding upbeat but short on specifics about big breakthroughs. Trump stressed he wants to move fast into phase two of the ceasefire he brokered back in October, which would mean Hamas fully disarming, Israeli forces pulling back further, and some international group stepping in for security and rebuilding Gaza. He was blunt: if Hamas doesn't disarm, there'll be hell to pay, and even floated that other countries might have to get involved if they drag their feet. He praised Israel for sticking to the plan 100 percent so far.

On Iran, Trump got tough, saying he's heard they're trying to rebuild their nuclear or ballistic missile programs at new sites, and the US would very quickly eradicate that or back Israeli strikes if needed. Netanyahu's side has been pushing this angle hard, worried about Tehran bouncing back after earlier hits this year.

The two didn't fully align on the West Bank though, Trump admitted they don't agree 100 percent on settlements there, but said he thinks Netanyahu will do the right thing eventually. Netanyahu went big on flattery, announcing he'd award Trump Israel's highest civilian honor, the Israel Prize, something usually just for Israelis, but they changed the rules this year. Overall, they projected unity, but those details on territory, disarmament, and who's governing Gaza post-war are still the real hurdles holding things up.

Nancy Pelosi Confident Democrats Flip the House in 2026

Pelosi did a sit-down interview, and she didn't hold back on her optimism. When asked if she had any doubt that Democrats would flip the House in the midterms and make Hakeem Jeffries the next speaker, she said flat out, none at all. She called Jeffries ready for the job, eloquent, respected across the caucus, and someone who can bring people together.

She took some digs at Republicans too, saying they've basically handed over all their power to Trump and let Congress become too partisan. Pelosi talked about wanting to get politics back to a place where things actually get done for people. This comes as she's wrapping up her own long career, she's not running again after this term ends. With Trump's approval numbers dipping lately, a lot of folks are reading this as her firing up the base early for a strong push next year.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Admits She's Politically Isolated After Trump Split

Marjorie Taylor Greene is stepping away from Congress soon, resigning her seat early next year, and she laid out how her split with Trump really deepened over the past few months. She says it started sharpening after the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk back in September, watching the memorial made her rethink the constant fighting and no-apologies style that Trump popularized, which she admits she fully bought into for years.

Greene called herself naive for believing Trump was truly a man of the people, questioned whether he has real faith based on some things he said, and even criticized the vibe at Mar-a-Lago.

The real breaking point, she claims, was pushing hard for full release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, Trump reportedly yelled at her over the phone, worried it would hurt his friends. Now she describes herself as politically radioactive in GOP circles, done with Washington for the time being, and even apologized for some of her past harsh rhetoric. It's a big shift from the MAGA loyalist she was, and it highlights some cracks showing up on the right.

FBI Ramps Up in Minnesota Over Major Fraud Probes Tied to Federal Programs

FBI Director Kash Patel posted that they've already surged extra agents and resources into Minnesota to take down what he calls major fraud rings exploiting federal programs. He pointed to the big Feeding Our Future case from the COVID era, where $250 million in child nutrition funds got diverted through fake vendors and shell companies, 78 people indicted, 57 convicted so far, mostly tied to the Somali community in the Twin Cities.

Patel called that just the tip of a very large iceberg and said the probe is ongoing, with some suspects getting referred for possible denaturalization or deportation. It got triggered louder by a viral video from an independent journalist showing empty daycare centers in Minneapolis that supposedly pulled in millions in state childcare assistance funds, one spot alone got nearly $4 million over recent years, including $1.9 million this year, but looked completely unused.

Trump and Republicans have been hammering this as part of broader immigration and spending critiques, especially hitting Governor Tim Walz for oversight lapses under his watch. Walz's team fired back saying he's pushed for tougher crackdowns and investigations for years, and they've already closed some facilities. Immigrant advocates are calling it scapegoating of the Somali community, which is Minnesota's largest immigrant group. Either way, with Patel saying it's a top priority nationwide for stealing from taxpayers and kids, expect more raids and charges soon, it's turning into a real political headache for Democrats in the state.

Zelensky Leaves Florida Talks Saying Real Progress Made on Ukraine

The meeting at Mar-a-Lago lasted a few hours, with Trump hosting Zelensky in the dining room amid all the holiday buzz down there. Both came out sounding optimistic, Trump said they're a lot closer, maybe very close to a deal, while Zelensky called it a great discussion and noted their teams have nailed down about 90 percent of a revised 20-point peace plan.

Key points they're aligning on include long-term security guarantees for Ukraine (Trump said the US and Europe are almost fully in sync, with Europe likely taking a bigger role), economic rebuilding, and sequencing steps like a potential ceasefire. Trump even spoke to Putin for over an hour before the sit-down and planned a follow-up call after, saying he believes Putin wants peace too. Zelensky mentioned the US floating stronger postwar protections, and they set up working groups to keep momentum, with possible next talks in Washington including Europeans.

But the thorny stuff is still there, mainly Donbas territory control, where Russia wants the whole region and Ukraine's pushing for mutual pullbacks or a demilitarized zone. Trump admitted some issues could derail things and didn't give a timeline, just that they're heading in the right direction after recent intensive back-and-forth. No big announcement, but avoiding the blowups from past meetings is progress itself, especially with Russia still launching strikes even as talks happen.

That’s all for today, thanks for reading.

We’ll see you tomorrow!
